Do the Dewey

The Dewey Decimal System is based on numbers. You're probably familiar with it from your school, public, or university library. Knowing which Dewey area is of interest to you will help you browse any library's collection.

Items organised with this system are divided into 10 general topics represented by the numbers 000 – 900.

These categories are broken down into 10 subdivisions, and those subdivisions are further broken down into 10 specific topics.

(That's why it's called a "decimal" system – everything works from the number 10 – just like Australian currency does.)
