AquaNIC is a gateway to an extensive collection of electronic resources for aquaculture information and education. The many links include news, publications, discussion groups, research and information organisations, universities, visual media, calendars, job services, directories and specialty sections for species and production systems. While US based it has a good international focus.

AQUATEXT – Online Aquaculture Dictionary

This online dictionary is maintained by Pisces Engineering and besides the 2,500 plus aquaculture definitions, it includes tables, pictures and calculations.

Australian Pesticides & Veterinary Medicines Authority

Information relating to the assessment, registration and use of agricultural and veterinary chemicals can be found on this site. There are links to chemical data information, standards and guidelines, and the various government Acts that regulate this industry.

FAO Fisheries

FAO Fisheries is a department of the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations and is committed to the promotion of sustainable fisheries worldwide. The site provides information on international policy, resources, industries, production, statistics, reports and publications, and has an extensive Aquaculture glossary.

FishBase

FishBase is a global information system on fishes. The two searchable databases on fish and larva have both a common and a scientific search facility. There is access to a fish forum and the ‘Useful Links’ access a range of international connections.

PIRSA – Primary Industries Research South Australia

An excellent site that provides a wide range of information on Aquaculture and Fisheries in South Australia. It includes the department’s “Fact Sheets” on species, business development and marketing information for marine and land based ventures, and industry legislation and regulations.

South Australian Research and Development Institute – Aquatic Sciences

South Australian research projects and programs for aquaculture, fisheries and the environment are the focus of this section of SARDI. The results are available in papers, reports and publications that can be accessed from this site and purchased through the library. The SARDI library includes information on aquatic flora and fauna and the service is available to both the local and global communities.

University of Florida – Electronic Data Information Source – Fish Health

This site contains peer-reviewed publications on topics that include fish health, nutrition, reproduction and diseases. The consistent formatting of these papers enables easy access to the information which is enhanced by the illustrations and useful references.
